Document Work (MLA)

In this course we worked a lot with learning how to properly cite in-text and how to make a works cited page. Prior to this course, I was not aware that if you put an authors name in the same sentence as a quote then you don’t need to mention the name in the parenthetical at the end of the sentence. We also learned about embedded quotes which I used a lot in my significant writing project. My favorite embedded quote was: Her senior year was the biggest change, “she often viewed texts as multiply connected- to authors and scientists, to other readers, and historical circumstances” (Haas 67). This quote flowed very well from my words to Haas’.

Near the end of the term we took a closer look at our works cited page on our projects. After reading The Little Seagull by Francine Weinberg, Michal Brody, and Richard Bullock, we created our own citations and compared them to citations from easy bib. We learned easy bib doesn’t usually cite our sources correctly as well as the differences between an article, journal, book, magazine, and more.
